Welcome to the Clif Blog

Why we built Clif, and what you'll find here — short notes on learning, memory, and the best nonfiction, distilled.

Clif turns the world’s best nonfiction into summaries you can finish in about eleven minutes — 620 of them, across 16 categories, every one narrated end to end. Then it brings the ideas back to you, day after day, until they stick. This blog is where we share what we’re learning while we build it.

Why summaries, and why review

Most of us do not have a reading problem. We have a remembering problem. You finish a book, you feel changed for a week, and a month later all that survives is the cover. Cutting a book to its core ideas fixes half of that. Bringing those ideas back on a schedule fixes the other half.

You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. James Clear, Atomic Habits

What to expect here

  • Notes on memory — why spaced review beats re-reading, and how we designed Clif’s daily loop around it.
  • Book breakdowns — the single idea from a title that changed how we think.
  • Product updates — new summaries, new audio, new ways to make it stick.

We would rather post rarely and mean it than fill a schedule. In the meantime, the library is the real thing to look at — or start your streak and see how eleven minutes a day adds up.

Clif turns books like these into 11-minute summaries you can read or listen to.
