Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Clif mobile application and the Clif website at clif.app (together, the “service”; “we”, “us”). By creating an account, purchasing premium, or otherwise using Clif, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Using Clif

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Clif.
• You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
• You agree to use the service only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes.

Your account

You sign in using your Google account or your Apple account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email address, Apple gives us a private relay address rather than your real one; that sign-in cannot be matched to an account you created another way, so you may end up with two separate accounts. Email us and we will merge them.

Content

All book summaries, text, audio, and other materials provided in the app are owned by Clif or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. They are provided for your personal learning only. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from this content without our written permission. Clif summaries are independently written works about the books they discuss. Book titles, author names, and cover images are the property of their respective owners and are used to identify the works summarised; Clif is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by any author or publisher.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the service, attempt to access it through unauthorised means, reverse engineer the app, scrape or bulk-download content, or use the service to infringe the rights of others.

Subscriptions & purchases

Clif is free to download with limited access. Premium is purchased on our website (clif.app) as either a recurring subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time “Founding Lifetime” purchase, and is processed by Polar (polar.sh), acting as merchant of record; your card statement may show Polar. Pricing and billing terms are always presented before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled; you can cancel anytime from the link in your receipt email or by contacting us, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. The Founding Lifetime purchase is one-time and does not renew or expire. The mobile app does not sell anything; it only unlocks content for accounts with existing premium access.

Refunds

All purchases are final and non-refundable, including partly used subscription periods and the one-time “Founding Lifetime” purchase. We do not provide refunds or credits for periods you did not use, for forgetting to cancel, or for content you have already read or listened to. You can cancel a subscription at any time to prevent the next charge, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Two things sit above this policy, and we would rather say so than have you find out later. Polar (polar.sh) is our merchant of record and processes every purchase under its own terms; Polar may issue a refund at its discretion, and where it does, premium access ends. And if you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you a statutory right to cancel or be refunded, for example the 14-day right of withdrawal in the EU and UK, nothing here removes that right. Where you ask us to make premium available immediately, you may be asked to acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right once access begins.

If you were charged in error, charged twice, or never received the access you paid for, that is not a refund question, so email contact@clif.app and we will put it right.

Disclaimer

The service and its content are provided “as is” for general educational purposes. Summaries are condensed interpretations and are not a substitute for the original works or for professional advice. We make no warranties about the accuracy or completeness of the content.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clif will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the service.

If you use Clif as a consumer, this does not take away rights you already have. Where the law of the country you live in gives consumers mandatory protections that cannot be contracted out of, those protections continue to apply, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your own country’s courts. Consumers in the EU and the UK keep every right described under Refunds.

Before starting formal proceedings, please email contact@clif.app. Most problems turn out to be a billing error or an account that did not unlock, and both are faster to fix directly.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
